The Fancy Feet History

The Fancy Feet History

The Fancy Feet Dance Studio story began in the dreams of a young girl. When Susan Mendogni was five years old, she began taking dance classes. At the age of twelve, she started assisting in classes. Touching the lives of children was exciting and the dream flourished from there. At just nineteen years of age, Susan opened her doors for the first time with a small group of students. Now, with almost four decades in business, Susan’s numbers have multiplied, as have her Fancy Feet locations.

Susan is committed to providing herself and her staff with professional development to keep Fancy Feet on the cutting edge of the dance and acrobatics industry. Susan and her staff have taken classes from dance pros from the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” as well as from of “Tap Dogs.”

Susan has shared her skill, wisdom, and talent with thousands of students over the past 38 years as the Fancy Feet director, taking them to heights beyond expectation. Under Susan’s direction, Fancy Feet students have performed at Walt Disney World several times and on the Norwegian Cruise Line. A ballet slipper maker commissioned Fancy Feet Dance Studio students to choreograph and perform in an in-house National Sales Video. Fancy Feet students have also been featured on the TV show “30 Rock”, and have performed at prestigious venues including the Barclay Center, Madison Square Garden, and Lincoln Center. In March of 2017, Fancy Feet boys hip hop team was invited by the producers of “Dance Moms” to be part of the taping and compete against the “Dance Moms” girls. We loved the experience and was thrilled when Fancy Feet boys beat the dance Mom girls!

Through all of these vast accomplishments and choreography style changes, three things remain steadfast. Susan’s passion for people, dance, and community are key in the Fancy Feet business model and experience.
